Research from real conversations
Rover research is built from recorded phone conversations with HR and finance professionals who did not apply to be surveyed and were not paid. Every figure we publish carries the denominator behind it.
Most buyer research asks people to describe their own intentions on a form. Rover research starts from a conversation a person actually had with a Community Development Representative (CDR), which is a different instrument measuring a different thing. Where the two disagree, we publish both readings.
The methodology page below is the reference every publication points back to: how conversations are collected and consented, what counts as a conversation, how contacts are anonymized, and where the limits of each dataset sit.
The HRMS Buyer Signal Report
10,913 recorded conversations with HR professionals who had not asked to be called. Seven in ten rate the system they run a 4 or a 5, only 2.1% are looking for a replacement, and 37.7% of the satisfied ones named a high-priority thing their system cannot do. Buyer Signal Series No. 01, September 2026.
Learn more →The Payroll Buyer Signal Report
1,608 recorded conversations with the people who run payroll. They rate it lower than any other system in the HR stack, and unlike every other category we measure, the unhappy ones act on it: a 1-rating converts to active shopping 30.6% of the time. Buyer Signal Series No. 02, September 2026.
Learn more →The Benefits Administration Buyer Signal Report
884 recorded conversations with the people who administer benefits. The highest satisfaction in the HR stack at 3.94 out of 5, the smallest live market at 2.0%, and a drop at enterprise scale as wide as the entire vendor leaderboard. Buyer Signal Series No. 03, September 2026.
Learn more →A Signal Note on Learning Management
1,096 conversations about learning management. 63.7% run a system that is on no shortlist, 74.3% named a high-priority gap, and only one product in the category cleared our reporting threshold. Published as a Signal Note because the data supports fewer claims than a full report, and it shows the working on each one it declined to make.
